“The government changed its working methods in the post-war period. Society’s self-defense instincts and vigilance and consistently dulled, and theories and ideologies are injected into society that are generally foreign to us. The main theories created by Azeri and Turkish propaganda that we have denied for many years, and the misinformation that we have fought against even on international platforms are now being used by our authorities. Let’s start with everything from the unacceptable formulation of referring to Shushi as ‘Shusha’ to questions of whether Shushi is truly Armenian,” Azeri affairs expert Anzhela Elibegova said during a press conference at the Hayeli press club.
Regarding having economic relations with Turkey and Azerbaijan, which the government is promoting as part of the expected economic benefits within the context of the operation of the Nakhichevan-Yerevan-Baku highway, the expert said, “It is absolutely ridiculous for Armenia to have any economic interest in these programs because Azerbaijan and Turkey will never allow Armenia to have any economic benefits, restore the economic, and strengthen its security as a result of this. We must forget about it. Just the opposite: they will try to take whatever they can from our economy so they can finally kill it. Their future plans are very obvious. They aren’t even trying to hide their plans.”
At the same time, the expert believes that the victorious euphoria will subside in Azerbaijan by next year because she believes that the investments made in the territories temporarily under Azerbaijani control will be funded entirely from its people’s pockets. According to her, everyone understands that there will be another war in the future, and they would not want to make any investments in those territories.
Anzhela Elibegova noted that if Azerbaijan were prepared for peace, the Armenian side would not have any issues with having the prisoners of war returned.
