A member of the Homeland Salvation Movement and the ARF, Gegham Manukyan, held a speech on Baghramyan Avenue at the opposition rally.
He advised the speakers at the rally to stand with their back towards the National Assembly building as a sign of indifference because, according to Gegham Manukyan, the people working in that building are “the political majority who does not do any work but still receives state benefits.”
Gegham Manukyan chanted, “Armenia without Turks!” Then, he reminded those gathered of the announcement made by the General Staff, stating that soldiers made that statement privately, but no one listened to them. “It is a unique case in our history, or it might be the only case where the people stood by the army against the ruling political force and the incumbent Prime Minister. This will be the last instance where the ruling force goes against those who ensure the security of our nation, and in order to ensure that this is the final instance, the people of our nation need to stand up and fight with one demand: to have an Armenia without Turks.”
