“What corridor are they referring to? Do they want us to grow used to the word ‘corridor?’” the head of the Meghri community, Mkhitar Zakaryan, told Aravot Daily in an interview. In his opinion, no Azerbaijanis have shown up in the Meghri region, and no one has come regarding the Meghri corridor, nor have they spoken about it.
“The corridor cannot pass through Meghri. The Prime Minister can open the corridor through his bedroom. He cannot do anything on our soil,” Mkhitar Zakaryan said. He also denied rumors that the people of Meghri are in a state of panic or they are leaving the region. “Perhaps one or two idiots like him will leave in order to create an impression, but I do not know of any facts to prove that any family left Meghri in the last several days,” the Meghri community leader said.
But there is a state of concern, in general. “Everyone starting from myself is concerned. Perhaps the state of concern comes from this uncertain situation where the state cannot say or do anything for certain,” Mkhitar Zakaryan concluded in his phone conversation.
