Penalties for drug law offences in Europe ‘at a glance’ — Armenia, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine added to online tool

March 29,2022 17:01

Data from eight new countries and EU partners, including Armenia, Georgia, Moldova, and Ukraine, have been added to the European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction (EMCDDA) tool, ‘Penalties at a glance’.

The tool explains how the EU member states, Norway, Turkey and some of the EU partner countries’ laws deal with offences relating to drug use, possession for personal use or supply. ‘Penalties at a glance’ also allows a comparison of legal measures in place in up to five countries at a time. The online tool can help users explore how countries’ legislative penalties vary according to the type and quantity of the drug and to the offender’s level of addiction or recidivism.

Data from additional countries will be included in the course of 2022.

Data from Armenia, Georgia, Moldova, and Ukraine were collected in the framework of the EMCDDA’s EU-funded technical cooperation project with the European Neighbourhood Policy area (EU4MD).
