Taguhi Tovmasyan: “If we lower the bar in the Artsakh issue, be sure that if the same government remains, it will lower the bar in the issue of Syunik, Gegharkunik, and Vayots Dzor”

April 25,2022 13:44

Taguhi Tovmasyan, MP of the I Have Honor faction, chairman of the NA Standing Committee on Protection of Human Rights and Public Affairs, told Aravot on April 23 during the march from Freedom Square to the Republic Square.

“I looked at the words of Ilham Aliyev during a meeting with his citizens. They made me want to go back. In particular, for 30 years the same international community has forced Azerbaijan to come to terms with the situation we had before the 44-day war. And only after the war did his appetite start and he presented many other demands. These are clear messages to me that the current government of Armenia, Ilham Aliyev, serves the same interests. They both have the same interests and both pursue pro-Azerbaijani policies.

Nikol Pashinyan says that we should lower the bar of Artsakh, because the international community demands it, or Aliyev says the same. But we did not recognize that international community. Let me remind you more. After the war in April 2016, it seems that Ilham Aliyev was still publicly protesting at the government session, saying that he was locked in the door and forced to recognize Artsakh’s independence. Wasn’t it the same international community that forced Artsakh to recognize its independence? So, Nikol Pashinyan himself has expressed readiness to the international community to lower the bar in the Artsakh issue. And if we lower the bar in the Artsakh issue, be sure that if the same government remains, it will lower the bar in the Syunik issue, in the Gegharkunik issue, and in the Vayots Dzor issue.”
