Is the nation divided?

December 21,2022 10:44

What divides the nation, if it does? Security Council Secretary Armen Grigoryan believes rigging elections and stealing power can do that. And he is probably right. With just one response, the last time it happened was on April 2, 2017, and now it’s December 2022. Has the nation become more united in these 5.5 years? More prosperous? The nation’s security level may have increased. Or the same Armen Grigoryan, as the chief strategist, correctly predicted how the war would go. Or did he brilliantly negotiate with Azerbaijan’s assistant Hikmet Hajiyev, as a result of which Azerbaijan recognized the independence of Artsakh?

Instead of admitting and analyzing the current situation and own mistakes, the past is discussed again. I don’t know how long this will continue, maybe as long as the Civil Contract electorate finds it convincing, but, in my impression, as long as there is this “excuse,” our government will not work well.

Now about the “split” itself. It seems to me that it is not so much a reality as an external impression, or, in modern language, “post-truth,” and the “service” of the current government here is irrevocable. “Social network terrorism” plays not the last role in this matter. Let me give a simple example. Many people are afraid to approach the fence of the UN office and shake Artak Beglaryan’s hand.

Because there will be several hundred people who will post that picture on the social network with the inscriptions “servant of the former,” “Russian spy,” “Putler’s slave,” and “bullying .” only some have the mental strength to endure. That paradigm was given by today’s government, especially after 2018, and before that, when it was conducting opposition propaganda. And as a result, decent, modest people enter their shells, leaving the arena to those whining by the government or the opposition. It creates the impression that “the nation is divided” and comprises these “black and white” camps. The current government is not so much dividing the nation as demoralizing it. For example, during yesterday’s session of the National Assembly, the usual CC aggressiveness (“so you are on the topic of…”) was combined with an open display of incompetence: “what can we do? We are zero in this world.” How or what can you do? You can congratulate the victory of the Argentine national team.
