Czech Republic supports the territorial integrity of Armenia, the maintenance of the principles and denies any violation of territorial integrity

Delegation led by RA NA Vice President Hakob Arshakyan has a number of meetings in the Czech Republic

The delegation with the Chair of the RA NA Standing Committee on European Integration Arman Yeghoyan and the member of the RA NA Armenia-Czech Republic Friendship Group Hasmik Hakobyan, led by the RA NA Vice President Hakob Arshakyan, is on a three-day working visit to the Czech Republic.

On October 9, the delegation led by Hakob Arshakyan met with the 1st Vice-President of the Senate of the Czech Republic Jiří Drahoš and the Chairperson of the Committee on Education, Science, Culture, Human Rights and Petitions of the Senate of the Parliament Jiří Růžička.

Thanking the 1st Vice-President of the Senate for the invitation and warm reception, the RA NA Vice President underlined that the Czech Republic is one of the important partners of Armenia in Europe. He recorded with satisfaction the stable development of the friendly relations with the Czech Republic and expressed readiness for deepening the cooperation.

During the meeting the situation creation in the region was thoroughly presented, the aggressive policy being pursued against the territorial integrity of Armenia by Azerbaijan and the showing of proper support to the forcibly displaced people from Nagorno Karabakh were discussed.

The 1st Vice-President of the Senate Jiří Drahoš highlighted the activation of the inter-parliamentary contacts and the visit of the RA NA delegation to the Czech Republic. He noted that the Czech Republic supports the territorial integrity of Armenia, the maintenance of the principles and denies any violation of territorial integrity. The 1st Vice-President of the Senate also mentioned that he supports the democratic reforms of the last years of the Republic of Armenia.

The delegation led by the RA NA Vice President also met with the Deputy Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Republic Jan Skopeček.

At the meeting Hakob Arshakyan stated that Armenia greatly emphasizes the dynamically developing friendly relations with the Czech Republic, which are based on the mutual trust and common democratic values. He extremely attached importance to the inter-parliamentary cooperation and the further expansion and strengthening of the inter-parliamentary ties on the bilateral agenda. The sides spoke about the situation in the region and the policy of ethnic cleansing towards the Armenian population of Nagorno Karabakh. The Vice President of the Chamber of Deputies Jan Skopeček noted that he follows the situation in the region, adding that the Czech Republic supports the peaceful solution of the conflicts.

At the meeting with the Chairperson of the Czech Republic-Armenia Friendship Group of the Chamber of Deputies Marek Benda and the members of the Group the role of parliamentary diplomacy in the advancement of bilateral agenda was greatly highlighted. The RA NA Vice President highly appreciated the role of friendship groups, which are considered to be an important link between the legislative bodies of the two countries. At the meeting the details of the another large-scale attack unleashed by Azerbaijan on September 19 and its consequences were discussed.

Hakob Arshakyan highly assessed the adoption of the resolutions on the return of Armenian prisoners of war by the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the Chamber of Deputies and expressed conviction that the Czech colleagues will continue supporting the Armenian people and will promote the return of prisoners of war.

The members of the Friendship Group expressed concern on the challenges existing in the region and mentioned that today mora than ever they should consider about the further cooperation, which would be spread in all directions.
