Samvel Karapetyan, the owner of the Russian-based “Tashir Group” company and a prominent businessman, has expressed interest in constructing a residential building up to seven floors in Gyumri.
The Gyumri Municipality is currently considering providing space for this project, likely located behind the former “grinding machine factory” of Gyumri. Discussions are ongoing regarding the allocation of this area, which also houses the Gyumri Medical Center, not far from where the elite building is proposed.
Henrik Gasparyan, Gyumri’s chief architect, shared this information with Aravot.am, detailing that the initial proposal, featuring elements of Russian architecture, was rejected by the city government. The new project is now being developed to align more closely with Gyumri’s architectural style.

Gasparyan explained, “We receive applications for constructing apartment buildings regularly. However, we face limitations due to our seismic zone classification, which favors lower building heights. Investors typically prefer taller structures for business reasons, so we allocate suitable areas where seismic conditions permit building heights of at least 5-6 floors.”
