PPA leader Stepan Demirchyan says.
– The opposition wasn’t unified and will participate in the forthcoming parliamentary elections separately, and your colleagues accuse you first of all. Almost all oppositionists consider that PPA leader is guilty that the opposition wasn’t unified. Why did you prevent the opposition’s unification?
– First of all, it isn’t true that all oppositionists “accuse” us. Simply some of them want to compromise us. PPA doesn’t need in any proof. PPA has always been a uniting force, and the formation of both “Unity” and “Justice” alliances is a good proof for it. Though the party intended to participate separately in the elections, but we, as you know, have proposed to form an alliance like “Justice”. By the way, the Party intended to participate separately because some of the members of the alliance were speaking about the formation of new format. PPA has done everything to reinforce the alliance. As regards those accusations, first of all I want to say that sometimes people, forces accuse us, who have served for this regime, who have rigged for this regime, are responsible for nowadays situation. PPA is the political force, which has struggled against that regime since its formation. They accuse the force, which left the authority because of principle discrepancies. All those accusations aren’t logical. If they are entered into an alliance it must operate. We need in such an alliance, which won’t cause problems later. I have to repeat that we don’t admit the formation of amorphous alliances. And then, what has happened, the oppositionists may participate separately and participate for the sake of fair and free elections and fight jointly against irregularities. Finally what did impede them to enter into alliance without PPA?
– It is known that the presidential elections in 2008 depend on the parliamentary elections in 2007, and if the opposition didn’t succeed in unification, it failed its success in the presidential elections.
– I don’t agree, nothing is failed. You told that the presidential elections are mainly connected with the parliamentary election , so we must actively prepare and participate and win in the elections and struggle against irregularities jointly.
– Anyway, the opposition made the situation of common voter difficult, and now it will be more difficult to elect.
– The common voter has an opportunity to elect, and understands very well who is who, who has struggled against this regime and hasn’t betrayed his principles.
– Why do you want the opposition to unify round you?
– PPA looks ahead and is ready for elections and struggle. We don’t have any problem to prove or assure something to others.
– What has happened in your party’s regional structure of Abovyan?
– Nothing has happened, the structure works. The information as if the heads of primary organizations have left the party has been denied by them. Such things happen in every party, and it isn’t so serious. This proves once more that the PPA is one of the most vital, powerful parties. But it is enough to speak of policy.
