Certainly, the results of the Russian Federation State Duma election on Sunday are predictable, nevertheless, according to the competent public opinion poll, United Russia will not win that decisively. The main reason is that people are tired with Putin and are not excited about the idea that he is going to rule for another 14 years. The freshness he had as a strong leader who as if roused Russia knelt during Yeltsin’s presidency has died away. Guess he roused, then where he took her. Propaganda, according to which everything was ruined in 1990s and everything became stable in 2000s, is not influential anymore. Putin’s team has no new idea, no new project. However, the bitter truth is that Zyuganov’s and Zhirinovsky’s teams don’t have those either. It would be surprising, if they had – one cannot “work as an oppositionist” for 20 years and surprise the citizens with anything.
Pre-election debates organized in Russia were really magnificent at the High-Tec, TV and journalistic level. The only, but the most important drawback of those was that the politicians themselves had nothing to say there. And it is not only the result of their “triteness”, but also being far from reality. The main forces participating in the Duma election, as Zyuganov’s spiritual leader would say, “are extremely far from the people”, they live in their enclosed and, by the way, quite prosperous world and they are compelled to perform from time to time, particularly during the elections, repeating their 20 years’ “repertoire”.
The fact that the forces both in Russia and in Armenia are not political and that they are guided by absolutely non-political, but group, clan ethics, was proved even by the latest events. The governor of Syunik, having explicit criminal inclinations, was let “off the hook” and no Republican had the courage to condemn Schmeiss’s behavior after his curses in the parliament this week. On the contrary, all the comrades-in-arms justified their “dear brother”.
Lately the Armenian National Assembly (ANC) has put forward a new strategy – to unite with one part of bandits to topple the other. Politics is not the place where one should handle things with kid gloves. However, it is just a wrong calculation – the establishment will not give up its bandits to anybody.
