“It is not a secret that in Armenia, we have 5 billionaires, 300 millionaires under the conditions of 70% poverty,” this statement of Movses Aristakesyan, a representative of the Armenian National Congress (ANC) made during a political debate organized by the Civilitas Foundation today was continued. One of the participants inquired who were those billionaires and when would they become well-doers. Mr. Aristakesyan refused to answer the question, “I will not name them, because I live in Samvel Alexanyan’s electoral district. We know that they have used violence against our candidates during the election struggle, they have broken the nose of one of them, moreover, they threatened me that my family would have problems, if I endorsed my colleague, but I endorsed. When we come to power, we know them name by name.” Later on, during a conversation with www.aravot.am, Mr. Aristakesyan said that those who had threatened him had been from the Republican Party “gang,” “My family is under threat, they terrorized me so that I stopped my opposition activities, so that I didn’t endorse the interests of Gayane Arustamyan beaten up in the 7th electoral district.”
