“The Joint Staff Didn’t Work,” an Armenian National Congress (ANC) Member Says

May 17,2012 20:51

Today, Gurgen Yeghiazaryan, a member of the Social Democrat Hunchakian Party (SDHP) and the ANC, admitted during a conversation with www.aravot.am that the joint staff of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF), the Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) and the ANC had not worked. In response to our question why Nikol Pashinyan had changed his opinion, since he had previously urged “it is enough of PAP-ization,” Mr. Yeghiazaryan said, “Let me say a simple thing, the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) always uses that we participate alone. This time, a staff was established, which they feared. Don’t you see how they talk with the PAP now – very mildly and meekly? That is thanks to the staff that was established. Today, they can speak very mildly and meekly with the ARF – it is thanks to the staff that was established. However, unfortunately, the staff hasn’t become united enough to prevent that total fraud. The staff didn’t work, in my opinion.” In response to our question whether, in his opinion, the PAP had handed out election bribe during this election or not, Mr. Yeghiazaryan thought for a while and then said, “Let me not comment.”

Gurgen Yeghiazaryan is convinced that the Prosperous Armenia Party will form a coalition with the RPA again, “Certainly, it will form, there is no doubt. However, Vartan Oskanian will keep his promise and will leave the PAP.”
