“Tribalism Is in Effect in Armenia,” About Freezing the Criminal Case Against Hovik Abrahamyan’s Niece

July 24,2012 19:43

“Such and more horrifying facts testify to the fact that law is not in force in Armenia or that canon law, tribalism is in effect,” Styopa Safaryan, a member of the Heritage Party, commented on dropping charges brought against Hovik Abrahamyan’s niece, Alla Abrahamyan, during a conversation with www.aravot.am.

Let us remind that on April 22, 2012, the girl ran 3-year-old Alen Simonyan down in the village of Mkhchyan, region of Ararat, who died in the hospital. Despite that, according to Zhoghovurd, the charges have been dropped because of the lack of corpus delicti.

According to Styopa Safaryan, not only this, but also many other cases show that in Armenia, as opposed to Serzh Sargsyan’s assurances, there are unpunished people. “Officials are above the law. If it hadn’t been so, such incidents, such developments wouldn’t have happened.”
