“Galust Sahakyan’s assessment is very important for me, because Galust Sahakyan is also a serious politician who, being the leader of the Republican Party parliamentary group for so many years, has been able to keep the whole parliamentary group, people of different types, under control,” Suren Sirunyan, the former chief of Vano Siradeghyan’s security, said this during a conversation with www.aravot.am today, in response to our question what the reason for Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) deputy chairman Galust Sahakyan’s high opinion of Vano Siradeghyan was. Galust Sahakyan said to www.hayeli.am about Vano Siradeghyan’s possible return that “Vano Siradeghyan is a historical phenomenon, a serious politician.” In response to our question what this meant, according to him, whether the RPA had taken a positive stance toward Vano Siradeghyan’s return, Suren Sirunyan said, “I cannot say what the government’s stance toward Vano Siradeghyan’s return is, but I am grateful that Galust Sahakyan has expressed such an opinion about Vano Siradeghyan, because Galust Sahakyan, late Andranik Margaryan, Ashot Navasardyan used to communicate with Vano Siradeghyan at the time.”

In response to our question whether that opinion just testified to personal relationship or the government favored Vano Siradeghyan, he said, “It seems to me that it is Galust Sahakyan’s personal opinion, because Galust Sahakyan also made a positive assessment of Levon Ter-Petrossian as the first president at the time. It seems to me that it is his personal opinion.”

In response to our question whether one could say that the government expected Vano Siradeghyan’s return now, Mr. Sirunyan said, “I would be happy, if the government didn’t expect, but created conditions, under which Vano Siradeghyan would return to Armenia.”

As for what Vano Siradeghyan has got to do today, whether there is something that would be different on the political stage or generally, if Vano was here, Suren Sirunyan stated, “I am absolutely convinced that he wouldn’t be on the political stage. I would like to see Vano Siradeghyan by the society’s side, because the society is more active than political parties today.” We inquired whether he didn’t see him in any party today, he assured, “Certainly, no, because Vano is both a political party and an NGO by his presence alone. He is a man who is famous in this country, loves this country and loves his city, most importantly. I am convinced that Vano will have his say as the time goes by.” In response to our question in

what ways he would clean up the political stage, if he didn’t join any party, Suren Sirunyan said, “Perhaps with his writings, because Vano’s pen is very powerful.”
