September 11,2013 23:50

“The participation of NKR in these processes is a very important issue. I am confident that the RA authorities would never do a move, which would be contrary to the actual independence and security guarantees of NKR”,- so answered political analyst, former secretary of the PAP party Aram Safaryan in a question of Aravot.am whether the NKR’s security was the main reason for making a decision to join the Customs Union, especially given the fact that there were assurances from the government’s wing that Armenia’s joining the Customs Union is controversial without Nagorno-Karabakh.

According to him, the main stimulus of RA’s joining the Customs Union is the concern about our economic development. We got interested, whether, ultimately, Armenia will sign the Association Agreement, or not, Mr. Safaryan replied,-“It is hard to predict the future but even joining the Customs Union, and became one of the founding members of the Eurasian Economic Union, Armenia for a number of reasons continues to find opportunities to improve its relations with the EU and the U.S. This is going to be the most important line of our security formula in the South Caucasus.”
