We are short of balance

December 16,2013 18:33

After September 3, the Republican Party became “pro-Customs Union.” It is, of course, not good: for three and a half years, people were saying one thing, and now, just the opposite. However, it’s worse when, in parallel, a number of parties, “pro-European” NGOs, political scientist, publicists and more became “pro-Customs Union”. In other words, there are almost no forces in the elite whose orientation is non-, not anti-Russian, if there were anti-Russian figures, then it would be difficult to name them other than “marginal adventurers”. We need for a part of the elite, which would feel the development trends of the world (from which, eventually, Russia would not be able to avoid), and which would not pay a tribute to sentiments of the authorities and conservative majority. It would be a balance, which is currently missing in us. It is generally accepted in Armenia that the opposition shall demand the resignation of the President. If it’s a stable tradition, then, perhaps, let it be preserved. Only to clearly formulate the reason for such resignation. For them to better maintain the outpost than the government does?

Or, for Armenia not to have the outpost, to be again a state, and maintaining warm relations with Russia, to create a new political, legal and economic system in the country to comply with contemporary challenges. No matter how true are the rumors about thieves, robbers, and plunderers (which, apparently, are liked by the majority), they reflect not on the causes, but the consequences, and most importantly, they do not form a second true pole. And, without the second, even weaker pole, although based on the sentiments of the minority, it is not possible to achieve the necessary balance. In 90s, the political forces were talking about notions: it was noted, for example, that ANM’s “destructive policy of wild liberalism.” (Although “militarized wing” of this party, Yerkrapah (Homeland-Defenders), was truly wild, but certainly not liberal). Now, no one is talking about notions, it is considered “bad manners”.

Even the Republicans do not say that he is a national conservative, probably, realizing that it would rather be perceived as humor. The current Prime Minister is no longer talking about “reforms”, probable, for the same reason. However, the opposition members also being together with the government, as we saw, refrain from talking about ideologies in the same geopolitical pole. They are, eventually, “conservative”, in the sense that they remain in paradigm of the majority, “Woe betide them! They plundered everything, if I were in their place I would have plundered less, and would have thought about people, too.” Sometimes, revolutionary calls are voiced by the opposition, “Let’s go and occupy B-26”, but no revolutionary notions are voiced on how to modernize the country found in the spiritual, political and economic stagnation. And, unless they happen, we’ll stay in our places. In the modern world, to stay in one place means to regress.
