Armenia and all Armenians continue to worthily honor our medalists in the 31st Summer Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. Almost every day, honoring ceremonies are organized in their honor. The Olympic medalists receive the invitations attend them with an understanding of the great desire of the organizers. Lately, at the honoring ceremony organized by ANOC’s official partner Ucom company, “Aravot” talked to Arthur Aleksanyan and his father personal coach Gevorg Aleksanyan on this matter.
To the question that Arthur Aleksanyan has already won almost all the possible top titles in the sports and awarded every kind of material and money rewards, especially after becoming a champion in Rio, so whether they will not interfere him in his sport career, Mr. Aleksanyan replied, “As long as the athlete is able to be trained, win and achieve medals, he must train in order to use his chances to win medals and rejoice him, his country and his fans. The awards are the evaluation of the work of the athlete. My thanks to awarders and all those who had contributed to this victory. As for Arthur, he receives awards for four or five years.
And as you can see, he has not been changed in those years. I am saying for sure that nothing will change for him now. Arthur is a professional athlete and does his job. Now too, when it comes for him to relatively rest after the Olympics Games, he is training. And he gets back to his training on the next day of his arrival from Rio. True, again with a relatively free schedule. Now, we are not doing mat exercises but speed-force and functional exercises, making them adaptable to such invitations as much as possible. We understand all those who are organizing events for our Olympic medalists and the media for the invitation. Refusing would not be quite right.”
To the question of this can last forever, Gevorg Aleksanyan replied, “No. We are putting an end to it. No more invitations and no more interviews. We resume our regular training. Ahead, there are new important starts which need to be trained seriously. The European Championship begins in the spring next year, and the attendance will be clear only after the gathering in Tsakhkadzor. Arthur will definitely participate in the World Championships in September.”
Arthur Aleksanyan also agrees with his father and personal coach. He confessed that he had already missed the training. Still from the first international achievements he has proved to be an earnest, balanced and truly professional athlete despite his young age, whom big money do not distract him from his business. “The money that you receive as an evaluation for your work done is of course for spending. But no matter how big is the money, it should not distract you from the right path, your business which you have chosen yourself. You should enjoy it but in a way not to hurt you so that it does not obstruct you to conquer new heights. Especially since the sports career is short,” – said the Olympic champion.
