Arayik Harutyunyan: ‘We try to revive the system so that it starts working independently’

June 24,2018 14:41

Since twelve-year education will be mandatory by law starting from September 1, and there should no longer be any 9th grader who does not continue the education, Aravot.am inquired from the Minister of Education and Science Arayik Harutyunyan how the Ministry of Education and Science is preparing for it.

“I think the Ministry has been preparing for it for long, but of course, there may be drawbacks. For instance, we are going to implement inclusive education in Armavir region since September, but now, when you study the situation, you see that in case of a specific region all this has had merely a declarative character, rather than actions. And now the Ministry and relevant officials are trying to make the process smooth”, said Arayik Harutyunyan.

Regarding the twelve-year education, the Minister added: “There are some shortcomings that will be dealt with within the course of time, but in general there are many problems that need to be solved operatively. The system has been stagnant for twenty-five years and has not operated for two months. We try to revive the system so that it starts working independently”.
