Mari Avetisyan, a staff member of Wikimedia Armenia, has received the Wikimedia Foundation’s Wikimedian of the Year – Honorary Mention award.
Wikimania is the annual international conference of the Wikimedia movement, bringing together volunteers from Wikipedia and other Wikimedia projects from around the world. In 2026, the conference is taking place in Paris from 21–25 July.
During the Opening Ceremony, Wikipedia founder Jimmy Wales announced the recipients of the 2026 Wikimedian of the Year Awards, among whom is Mari Avetisyan.
Mari began contributing to Wikipedia in 2018. She has been actively involved in the Central and Eastern Europe Youth Group, and since 2024 has been a member of the Affiliations Committee and is the newly elected Chair. Through her work, she contributes to the development of the Wikimedia movement at the local and international level.
