Turkish nationalists upset that ‘Ararat,’ ‘Ani,’ ‘Van,’ and ‘Akhtamar’ names labeled on Armenian products: Yeraguyn

October 22,2018 15:59

The “HayTert” newspaper in Istanbul wrote that the Turkish “Union for the Fight Against Unfounded Armenian Claims,” which typically campaigns against claims that the Armenian Genocide took place, is now upset that the names of “Ararat,” “Ani,” “Van,” “Akhtamar,” and other cities in Western Armenia are labeled on Armenian products.

The president of the union, Goksel Gulbey, said that those are “Turkish lands,” and that Armenian products and brands show, through using those names, that Armenians “have their eyes set on Turkish territory.”

Gulbey also criticized the fact that masses take place at the Cathedral of the Holy Cross on Akhtamar Island in Van, saying that this is not a religious initiative, but instead a political one, and that is proven by Armenian tourists who go to Van with Armenian flags.
