“Who said that? Such topics have been speculated a lot recently. If decrees are signed to relieve someone of their position or to appoint someone to a new position, we publicize that. We can’t keep that a secret. I advise everyone to only follow official news. If someone is let go, it is impossible for us not to announce that. If there is no such information, then don’t speculate,” said Spokesperson to the President of Artsakh Davit Babayan regarding speculations that Secretary of the Artsakh Security Council Vitaly Balasanyan and Advisor to the Artsakh President Arshavir Gharamyan will be fired.
Regarding speculations that Nikol Pashinyan is angry at Vitaly Balasanyan and Arshavir Gharamyan due to the fact that they criticized Sasun Mikayelyan’s statement about how the revolution was more important than the victory in Artsakh, Babayan again requested that people avoid making speculations. “The Republic of Armenia does not get involved in the internal affairs of Artsakh, and the same is for the opposite. The Prime Minister of Armenia and Bako Sahakyan have spoken about that several times.”
Davit Babayan also commented on information in the media that Armenian authorities see former Artsakh Prime Minister Arayik Harutyunyan as a good candidate to replace Bako Sahakyan. “The people elect the President of Artsakh. I don’t think that anyone, especially in Armenia, doubts the fact that authorities support Artsakh’s authorities and state system, which has been announced many times. Speculations are perhaps natural, but that is not the problem. The truth is that the people decide who the President will be. Presidential elections are going to take place in Artsakh soon, and the people will vote for the person whom they think is worthy of that,” Davit Babayan concluded.
