The residents of Ejmiatsin are continuing their protests against the release of Manvel Grigoryan and are continuing to keep Ejmiatsin’s Mashtots Avenue closed. One of the young protesters said, “The legal authorities need to understand that if someone is dangerous for society, they should not be let out on the streets and into our city. We will not allow that. We must close Ejmiatsin and then Yerevan until our justice figures understand that they need to serve the people, not 25 million AMD.”
According to the protester, Manvel Grigoryan made Ejmiatsin a city of violence for 25 years. “The justice system made an illegal decision. As long as he is free, we will fight. They should strip him from his title of “General.” Yerkrapah needs to have the will to do that. Ejmiatsin will not tolerate this, and I call upon Yerevan to do the same. Let the citizens’ decision be known and let them make sure that Manvel Grigoryan is in the right place.”
The protester said that Nikol Pashinyan does not have the right to put pressure on justice, but citizens do. “They can use their weapons against the people and the state.”
General Manvel Grigoryan was released on a 25 million AMD bail. He was accused of possessing illegal weapons and for having stolen massive amounts of property.
Another protester announced, “They say that he’s sick, but when he was released, he said, ‘I’m feeling great.’”
