Four years have passed since the outbreak of the April War. The Speaker of the National Assembly, Ararat Mirzoyan, and the chairman of the National Assembly Committee on Defense and Security and the Inquiry Committee Examining the Circumstances of the Military Activities of April 2016, Andranik Kocharyan, visited the Yerablur Military Pantheon.
Regarding the lessons that were learned in the aftermath of the April War, Ararat Mirzoyan said, “The first lesson we always knew: our enemy never sleeps and it still has its aspirations. We need to be ready at all times because the same attack can happen at any time, whether it be on Artsakh or on Armenia. The fact remains that, even though the whole world is at peace right now due to the coronavirus and all of humanity is fighting against it, Azerbaijan fired upon civilians two days ago and wounded them.”
Ararat Mirzoyan, speaking about the activities of the Inquiry Committee, said, “This issue is deeply important to society, which is why the committee was established. Six months was not enough for the committee to carry out enough research on the issue, so parliament has extended the committee’s authority for another six months. The committee is carrying out tremendous work and it constantly holds new meetings. Unfortunately, there are witnesses who have refused to come to the committee and help with their knowledge, but the committee continues its efforts in that direction. I think that the entire truth needs to be uncovered as much as possible and it needs to be presented to the public. I know some details. Believe me, there are things that need to be brought to light.”
