The opposition has a traditional demand: the resignation of the country’s leader. Ever since 1992, that has been what the opposition has demanded, claiming that the leader’s resignation is necessary. Otherwise, the country will be destroyed. Over the past 30 years, that demand was only fulfilled once in 2018. But the current opposition movement is not one of those cases.
- There aren’t tens of thousands of people now who support the demand for resignation. The authorities have not reached the level in which they would, to put it simply, make the citizens tired.
- The current members of the opposition are not prepared to paralyze life in the republic by blocking off roads, laying down on the streets, etc.
- And even if they have the intention to do so, the police of the “people’s government” would never allow it.
