“We must all understand that our country is becoming Turkified”: Armen Rustamyan

September 22,2021 12:44

“We have never had a jubilee of this magnitude. When the 30-year heroic past is largely lost,” Armenia faction deputy Armen Rustamyan told reporters at the Yerablur military pantheon on September 21. According to him, “Unfortunately, today we talk more often about losses than gains. We have significant losses, but the faith of the Armenian people still remains. We have proved many times that in the most difficult moments we can unite, mobilize, and understand that the knife has reached the bone, and we need unity so that we can unite by seeing the right sources of our strength. I am sure that the Armenian people can prove it once again.”

Armen Rustamyan also said that we must rediscover ourselves to be victorious again. In response to the question of how he imagines unity with these authorities, Rustamyan answered, “Yes, our opinions are very different, but it means that we must choose the vision that sustains us as a nation, that promises us a future as a nation. The authorities are trying to present in their enthusiasm that there is no crisis in Armenia, this election has overcome that crisis, and there is no problem, because the crisis is not the results of the elections, which should show, but the crisis is the consequences that arose from our defeat. Unless we talk about the reasons for the defeat, there is no need to talk about overcoming the crisis.”

According to Rustamyan, new defeatist processes are imposed on us. “Our neighbors’ appetite has always been great. They are not satisfied with what they have and will always strive to get more. Now, there is another attempt to intoxicate people. And the most important thing is to understand what kind of Armenia we want. One way is the Turkification of Armenia. We all must understand that our country is becoming Turkified. The desire to have friendly relations means to be slaves. In other words, we must live in humiliation here. The Armenian people must wake up and understand that they should not live in humiliation in these territories. These are territories inherited from their ancestors.”

In response to the question of if Nikol Pashinyan expects a meeting with Erdogan, what does Pashinyan have to talk to Erdogan about, Rustamyan said, “It is not clear under what conditions Turkey expects peace. They say that you either demand or beg for peace. Now, our authorities are going to beg. And to beg for peace from someone who wants your destruction, we must understand, means at least to live in humiliation. In fact, there is nothing left of Armenia. Armenia is losing its geopolitical role in the region,” he said. “If we lose Syunik, it means appearing in a geopolitical park. You no longer mean anything. You are a subject, you are a factor in the hands of this or that country.” He said that the Armenia alliance hinders begging for peace because they know where it will lead.
