David Babayan: “It is insidious and a blow to the Russian peacekeeping mission”

February 21,2022 12:22

The draft law “On the Occupied Territories of the Republic of Artsakh,” which was unanimously adopted by the Artsakh Parliament, is an important bill, and this is first of all imperative. Artsakh Foreign Minister David Babayan said this at a briefing with journalists. According to him, this document brings our past together, evaluates the present, and predetermines the future. “It has important political, moral, humanitarian, and legal significance.”

As for the impact it will have in the future, Babayan said, the most important thing is that we will never consider Shushi as non-Armenian. “Of course, everything depends on us. If we pursue the right policy, strengthen our statehood, choose the right directions, and then everything will be normal.”

As far as his opinion on the Armenia faction’s initiative to condemn the Shushi Declaration signed between Turkey and Azerbaijan, Babayan said, “I do not want to interfere in the domestic policy of the Republic of Armenia, because I am convinced that Artsakh must be a value for everyone. Unfortunately, there are people and forces who are waiting for such a thing to start stoning Artsakh. We will not allow it. But I can say that the Shushi Declaration is a very dangerous document. It is the vision of the relations between Azerbaijan and Turkey. They act as one geopolitical unit whose working style is dimensional and poses a threat not only to us, but also to many other countries; in general, the civilized countries of the world. Even if there are no official statements, we need to understand so that we can understand what is happening in the future with appropriate steps.”
