In connection with the events unfolding in the Lachine Corridor, questions are raised by the public; why did the Armenian Diaspora adopt a passive position? Why, like in Armenia, they do not organize protests in front of the embassies and offices of International organizations? We addressed the question to the press service of the Union of Armenians of Russia headed by Ara Abrahamyan.
The answer was as follows. “The Union of Armenians of Russia expressed its official opinion on the subversive and anti-human activities of Azerbaijan in the Lachin Corridor in a special statement. It was published in the press. At the same time, we inform you that we are busy, as in the past, with organizing large-scale humanitarian and pre-holiday aid, to Armenia and Artsakh. These days, we send more than ten tons of cargo. We do not understand what kind of protests we are talking about. Who should protest against in Moscow?
Against the fact that the Russian peacekeepers are doing everything possible to prevent the resumption of military operations in Karabakh, or against Gazprom, which supplies gas to Armenia at five times lower price than other countries? The so-called Armenian figures, who as a rule have a dubious orientation, and not only a dubious orientation in the political sense, who are allegedly dissatisfied with the activities of the Armenian community, are the same provocateurs as the Azerbaijani “environmentalists” who blocked the way of Life. Both of these groups have a common sponsor and a tightrope walker.
The Union of Armenians of Russia has never succumbed to the moods of idlers and provocateurs and will not. And if someone has no place to spend his energy, let him leave virtual reality and social platforms. We will help him find himself in volunteer self-expression for the benefit of Artsakh Armenians, Armenia, the Diaspora, and the strengthening of Armenian-Russian relations.”
