“From the point of view of economic consequences, the question of being ready or not is relative. To be prepared in what volume, for what period? We have been under blockade for more than a month: and if we speak in the language of numbers, if it were not for this blockade, an average of 400 tons of goods would be transported to Artsakh per day, but taking into account December and the new year, according to our forecasts, up to 15,000 tons. That many goods would enter Artsakh. At the moment, even 1-2% of it has not entered,” said Mesrop Arakelyan- the adviser to the Minister of State of the Republic of Artsakh, in a conversation with “Aravot,” answering the question why Artsakh was not ready for such a situation, taking into account the predictability of the actions and practices of the Azerbaijan state.
He added: “On the other hand, Artsakh is confronting, which indicates that its resources can at least meet the minimum requirements the state and food reserves allow it. Therefore, Artsakh is confronted with the settlement of extreme crisis problems. Of course, it can be said that it was necessary to have more state reserves and resources, to work more efficiently. We can record that more should have been done, considering the path chosen by Artsakh. After the road’s opening, we will not even live under the illusion that Azerbaijan will no longer resort to such provocations. We have seen this many times after the war; therefore, Artsakh’s resistance should be more assertive.”
