What is the reason for Armenian banks’ refusal to serve Russian companies?

“I don’t see an option for coexistence,” says Ruben Vardanyan, referring to the possible coexistence of Artsakh and Azerbaijanis

“I am a shareholder of “Ameriabank,” a closed joint-stock company, but the bank has a professional board of management, so I, as a shareholder, do not influence the decision-making in any way,” Ruben Vardanyan, the former Minister of State of Artsakh, told the “Economy of Armenia”, answering the question, what is the reason for the refusal of Russian companies by the banks of the Republic of Armenia?

He added that the influx of Russian companies into Armenia is an economic activity, but cooperation with them by each bank is the bank’s task. Ruben Vardanyan emphasized that many charitable projects he implemented were also aimed at increasing the country’s economic activity, including the construction of the Tatev ropeway, the structure of the Dilijan School, and the improvement of several public spaces and parks.

“Dilijan School is of great importance for our country. It is an innovation in the education system and training and makes Armenia interesting for foreign citizens. For example, the children of the employees of the embassies of other countries in Armenia, the children of foreigners who invest in Armenia have the opportunity to receive education in their accessible language, which encourages foreigners to move to Armenia,” he said.

Journalists inquired about the fate of Artsakh. “I don’t see an option for coexistence. How can Azerbaijanis and Artsakh people live side by side? For example, when Azerbaijanis celebrate their victory day, what will Armenians do? It is impossible. It is unsafe for two peoples to live together, and talks about international guarantees are just a bunch of beautifully packaged words.

Armenia and Artsakh are two Armenian states. Do you say that we are weaker than the enemy regarding weapons, economy, and allies, but isn’t that why the state exists? The state should think about developing the economy, acquiring weapons, and not worsening the relations with the allies. It doesn’t matter that we are weaker now; we need to unite, stand up, and everything will work out,” said Ruben Vardanyan.

Ruben Vardanyan said that he is ready to invest his funds even in the field of weapons production, but still, the cooperation of the state is necessary to achieve success. He also stated that it is time for Armenia to leave the status of a victim and show the world that it can create and give, not just ask the world.
