At the urgent press conference on the ongoing genocide by Azerbaijan in Artsakh, the question: there are calls to recognize the independence of Karabakh, can Azerbaijan give any status to Artsakh, and to what extent is it possible to solve the Artsakh issue on the example of Kosovo, the former Hague prosecutor, international independent expert Luis Moreno Ocampo answered that does not know how the Artsakh issue will develop, the problem is that regardless of the status of the Karabakh territory, the Armenians living there should not become victims of genocide.

Artsakh Foreign Minister Sergey Ghazaryan, speaking about Artsakh-Azerbaijan negotiations, said. “The Artsakh side is most interested in peacefully achieving a comprehensive settlement of the Azerbaijani-Karabakh conflict through negotiations. There are several important circumstances here: such negotiations should take place within the framework of the international format, which will allow the involved parties to see that the norms of international law are conducting these negotiations by the requirements. Second, clear guarantees must be established that the parties will fulfill their obligations. We have a document dated November 9, which also has the signature of the President of Azerbaijan, and it is not executed. As for the fact that it was proposed to start negotiations in the territory of a third country, such a meeting was planned at the beginning of August, the Artsakh side accepted, and the Azerbaijani side canceled the participation in the end.” He emphasized that after the case of Vagif Khachatryan, when Azerbaijani forces kidnapped the Artsakh citizen, it showed that it is impossible to have meetings with Azerbaijanis without a guarantee.

Regarding the operation of the Aghdam-Stepanakert road, Sergey Ghazaryan said. “This step will legitimize the illegal actions of blocking Lachin by Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan wanted the connection between Armenia and Artsakh to be cut by blocking the Lachin Corridor. Second, any international aid should not degrade human dignity; therefore, if Azerbaijan has created such a difficult situation on its own, deliberately starving more than 120 thousand of our compatriots, false attempts to present themselves with such “humanitarian” approaches should be unacceptable. Thirdly, this is not only the position of Artsakh authorities but also that of our compatriots; Artsakh NGOs also made a statement about it yesterday. Putting an equal sign between Lachin Corridor and Aghdam-Stepanakert roads is not allowed”.
