Who was nothing becomes everything. Then nothing again

October 14,2023 10:30

Why do people strive to become powerful? Why do they desire to rule, to say, “Riffs, this way, riff-raffs, that way?” The motives may differ, but it seems that without psychoanalysis, it is impossible to understand the problem. These people probably accumulated some grievances in their childhood, which they try to overcome in adulthood by giving instructions, forbidding certain things, and humiliating the dignity of others.

It applies to the rulers of all times and countries to a greater or lesser extent, especially those who came on a, so to speak, revolutionary path. When the representatives of the previously oppressed classes appear in the power seats, in addition to the mentioned complexes, the “not having seen” factor plays its role. “Here, I have come. Honor me as the king of Argishti,  seat me on gilded chairs, feed me with silver spoons.”

The experience of the Jacobins, Bolsheviks, and the rest shows that the obsession with feeling like a king or a prince does not appear immediately. From the beginning, they “came out of the lap of the people”; they are modest travelers with backpacks, go to work on foot, by bicycle, by subway, and communicate with journalists freely. But in the end, it comes down to the fact that journalists are not allowed to attend their inauguration, as happened yesterday.

Clearly, the prime minister participated in the ceremony, and many people wanted to be “soaped.” The presence of courtiers is more essential than that of journalists. Especially since, as Tigran Avinyan, the current descendant of King Argishti said, the municipality is not a meeting place for officials and journalists.

“He who was nothing will become everything,” sang the same Bolsheviks. But then comes the inevitable sequel, who was everything, becomes nothing. And on and on. The wheel of history keeps turning.
