Our policemen didn\’t reply when the crowd was tossing eggs on the oppositionists during meetings in 2003-2004. But 11 persons were brought to the police station for tossing eggs on the court building on April 4, 2007.
“Defense of liberated territories” public organization spread a message yesterday, where details were cited about the events in front of Kentron and Nork Marash communities\’ Court of first instance on April 4. At the same period, when the examination of Jirayr Sefilyan\’s case of preliminary arrest was delayed for the third time for two months in that court, “Tekeyan” center showed a film about Sefilyan after which Arsen Kharatyan, Tatul Manaseryan, Tsvetana Paskaleva and Hrachya Matevosyan made speeches. Then the majority of the participants went to the building of the court and demanded to se set Sefilyan free. According to the message, “Seeing that the judge wasn\’t going to decree, the participants expressed their attitude towards the servant court and left. Several eggs were thrown to the windows of the court that time.” Armen Eghoyan, the deputy coordinator of ” Defense of Liberated Territories” PO told the continuation: ” Eleven persons were brought to the Kentron police station after half an hour at 19:00″. Or rather four participants were taken just at the court building, the rest were taken from the streets and their flats. Karo Karapetyan, Kadmos Bagiyan, Gagik Galstyan, Smbat Yeritsyan, Arkady Tsakalyan and others were among them, and Arsen Kharatyan went to the police station voluntarily.
“The policemen were trying to find out who had been the organizers, who had tossed the eggs, -Armen Yeghyan told. – I, as one of the organizers of the meeting of protest “In favor Jirayr Sefilyan\’s and Vardan Malkhasyan\’s defense”, shouldered the responsibility. And now I think that such a demonstration is rather unequal and a weak step with the shameful political sufferings inflicted on Jirayr Sefilyan and Vardan Malkhasyan.”
Four participants were released at midnight, the rest stayed till 03:00. Six of them were brought to the drug dispensary and their passports were taken for bringing accusations against them. “The preliminary remark of the police is that it was a hooliganism, and the incident is included in the framework of “Criminal Code,”- Armen Yeghyan told. – We were released under the stipulation that we\’ll come in case of receiving notification. We may be sentenced to the administrative fine.”
“Aravot\’s” correspondent Ruzan Minasyan spoke to one of the participants of the meeting who was released earlier. Three colonels “invited” Vahan Sargsyan, the former chief of Military Police of Kotayk region, to the Central Investigation Division. Vahan Sargsyan has informed that he has been released from the police at midnight. He wasn\’t showed the reasons of being brought but was accused for “breaking public order”. While Vahan Sargsyan has pronounced during the procession the verse of his “super oppositionist poet”. It was titled “Cat\’s protest to Aghvan Hovsepyan”.
There is an interesting detail: while Armen Yeghyan affirms that they have thrown the eggs to the windows of the court, Vahan Sargsyan told that he had recognized several “NSS agents” who turned to that slander.
