Common citizens of Vanadzor still discuss it.
Prosecutor of Vanadzor town Albert Ghazaryan\’s murder isn\’t detected yet, though the citizens of Vanadzor expected the soonest detection since deputy chief of RA Police Armen Yeritsyan and head of principal department of criminal investigation of the RA Police Samvel Hunanyan are in Vanadzor.
We visited Vanadzor on September 1 again. The citizens of Vanadzor didn\’t cherish any hope that the murder would be detected. They were sure that it was an ordered murder and approved by the ruling clique of Armenia. Several of them even go further in their analyzes saying that before the last NA elections and the Prosecutor\’s murder, three kind of “mini” clans were ruling in Lori region: Mayor Samvel Darbinyan\’s clan whose support is former head of marz Henrik Kochinyan, Vahram Baghdasaryan\’s clan, whose main support is the RA Prosecutor General and former candidate for the post of mayor Gagik Hovsepyan\’s clan whose support was Albert Ghazaryan.
It seems to the citizens of Vanadzor that these mini clans are being liquidated one by one. Thus Henrik Kochinyan was dismissed from his position, the prosecutor was killed, Vahram Baghdasaryan failed during the NA elections. It means a third power tries to “import” a new power in Vanadzor.
Several citizens of Vanadzor think that this may happen by the initiative of the ruling clique. The reason of this hypothesis is that the RPA failed during the NA elections in this region receiving 20% of votes.
Few people connect the murder with the names of Arshaluys Paytyan, Levon Yeranosyan and Kamo Hovhannisyan who are close to the RPA leader, though the relatives of the above-mentioned militaries were actively engaged in wood business in Lori.
Henrik Kochinyan and Samvel Darbinyan are also suspected in ordering the prosecutor\’s assassination. The citizens of Vanadzor are inclined to think that H. Kochinyan was able to order the Prosecutor\’s death but with the “approval” of Yerevan. As for Samvel Darbinyan, more noisy materials have been gathered in the regional prosecutor\’s office. S. Darbinyan tried to prevent the publishing of those materials and negotiate with the Prosecutor. Since the Prosecutor ordered very “high” remuneration to hide those materials (5 and more million dollars), the negotiations weren\’t carried. Anyway the majority denies the possibility of Samvel Darbinyan\’s order stressing that another power ordered that murder who was interested both in the prosecutor\’s death and mayors\’ neutralization. The citizens also think that A. Ghazaryan\’s murder is connected with economic interests because the Prosecutor tried to interfere and demand his share of money. The most possible version is that the clan, which wanted to establish its monopoly in the region, ordered the assassination. It is known that the most profitable business in Lori is wood business, in favor of which, the citizens of Vanadzor are ready even to kill.
There is another version which seems very sensational and is connected with Dashnaktsutiun and Vahram Baghdasaryan. ARF is not so influential in Lori region about the wood business officially belongs to that party. One cubic meter of industrial wood costs $800-1000. That kind of wood is exported abroad, through Turkey to Germany. The Prosecutor tried to be involved in that business and have his share. It was very profitable for the ARF to address the crime to the mayor, weaken the role of RPA in the region.
