“Thank God, they released Hayk,” Heghine Bisharyan said

February 06,2012 13:06

Today, at Henaran Club, Aravot.am asked Heghine Bisharyan, the Rule of  Law Party (RLP) faction leader, to comment on what had happened to our colleague Hayk Gevorgyan. In her words, “I know Hayk for many years already and I am convinced that they will release Hayk. I think that a small, so to say, accident happened – one can call it so, since it ended in a body injury. No serious punishment awaits him. I think he will surely be released, as a result of an examination.”

She said those words, when we hadn’t gotten the news of  Hayk’s release. Journalists inquired whether someone had told her that Hayk would be released, Mrs. Bisharyan assured that no. By the way, in the meantime, when journalists would sneeze, Mrs. Bisharyan would point at them and say, “Bless you, Hayk will be released.”

We tried to clarify whether she thought that the accident took place and that they hadn’t framed Hayk up, Mrs. Bisharyan said, “Well, since a person, to whom it happened, speaks and says that his leg was hurt or stuff, but since the consequences were not serious, there is nothing serious to punish Hayk for. It is hard to express such an opinion, since there is a man who says ‘I was injured,’ there are law-enforcers who talk about it. I don’t want to talk with suspicion, I wasn’t there, I didn’t witness, it is hard for me to speak.”

As for why the establishment would arrest Hayk Gevorgyan and be a target of criticism, Mrs. Bisharyan said that it had nothing to do with the Republican Party, the system should have been convinced, in order to do something like that, “You know that cameras are installed in every street these days and my driver already warns me that we have to go some 5-10 minutes earlier, because we don’t have the right to drive faster. I am happy that law and order is enforced in the country and cameras probably recorded what happened where. Perhaps, as a result of that they have clear evidence that they say that such an accident happened. I cannot say anything more. I respect Hayk Gevorgyan very much, he is a very mild and gentle man who always comes to the National Assembly with his questions, we have communicated, I haven’t noticed anything inappropriate.”

P.S. At the end of the press conference, when journalists informed that Hayk was released, Heghine Bisharyan looked up and said, “Thank God, they released Hayk.”
