Aghvan Vardanyan, the coordinator of the ARF election campaign, talked about the real and wrong opposition during his latest press conference, stating that the ARF was the most real and best opposition. In his words, “They try to make an impression that the opposition is only the force that remains in streets day and night, does everything, in order that only it may come to power and leads the country to shocks and makes it face a difficult situation. It is not an opposition, it is something different.” Mr. Vardanyan clarified that yes, he was talking about the ANC, “taking into consideration what the ANC has done since 2008.” During a conversation with www.aravot.am, in response to our observation that as opposed to them, Levon Ter-Petrossian had reiterated several times in regions urging to vote for the ARF, Communists, but not for the Republican Party, Mr. Vardanyan said, “I didn’t say anything bad about the ANC. This is not the first time Levon Ter-Petrossian says such a thing. He doesn’t urge to vote, he says that there are the ARF and the Communists as political parties in Armenia. However, he says the Communists as he remembers them from 1988-90. When he says the Communists are a serious force in Armenia, I don’t believe Levon Ter-Petrossian’s words. When he compares the ARF with Communists, I don’t see a very
good thing here either. However, the fact that Levon Ter-Petrossian realizes that the ARF is a party with organization, a program, an ideology and principles testifies to his knowledge.”
