Along with a few youths who cannot spell, Levon Barseghyan, a journalist and the head of the journalists’ club Asparez, has also been elected a member of the Gyumri council and seems to have found the way to show the face of each council member to his electorate.
The journalist promises to guarantee the transparency and publicity of the council’s meetings, to guarantee broadcasting on local TV and online. Movie director Artur Harutyunyan, a member of The Town Is Ours civic initiative, commented on this novelty as follows, “In the past, the members of the council could decide to turn the Avetik Isahakyan Library into a stable and carry out their decision easily, whereas now they will not venture to do that, now they are filmed, that is why those who are for a stable will surely shy from raising their hands and voting in favor, because it will be shown and they will be disgraced in the eyes of their voters.”
