Activist Avetis Avetisyan was the one out of ten from 20 detainees against whom an accusation was brought yesterday to due to the event on November 5 at Mashtots Avenue. Avetis’s advocate, Andranik Abajyan, said to Aravot.am that the accusation was brought under Article 316 of the Criminal Code for the act of violence against a representative of authorities. We asked the advocate whether violence was acted against his client on the way of being apprehended, “I do not have justification: It was the first questions I asked him. He said, no, nothing like that. The treatment was an Armenian style, a kind attitude was not possibly expected.” Earlier, Avetis announced that he would be going for a hunger strike, however, the advocate has no information about it. “I can not say. It is up to him, I have told him that if you have something to say within the law that we can make a demand, tell me. But, to give him a piece of advice, or prohibit him, it is excluded.” Mr. Abajyan is not in a hurry to say how credible the accusation is. “As an advocate, I must, of course, say that he is innocent. But, as a citizen of Armenia, I can say nothing. The investigation will show whether he is innocent or not. At the moment, we have also refused to make such statements. Currently, I am still refrained from giving an answer.”
