The International Committee of the Red Cross expresses regrets at not being able to implement its initiative of temporarily ensuring road traffic security of Vazashen-Paravakar section. We learned about it from Zara Amatuni, Head of the International Committee of the Red Cross Communication projects. She said that with neutral mediation of the Red Cross International Committee, it was scheduled to spend certain hours at this dangerous section for safety traffic of civilian population in the presence of the Red Cross. Followed by this purpose, the Red Cross appealed to the governments of Armenia and Azerbaijan, but the agreement did not take place.
Zara Amatuni said that the Red Cross has repeatedly suggested ensuring their presence in Azerbaijan and Armenia border villages during sowing and harvesting operations. Z. Amatuni did not considered proper about the comparison in the press that civil works are carried out in Alibeyli village with the permission of the Armenian side, whereas the Azerbaijani side does not ensure the safety of traffic in the Vazashen-Paravakar section. She said that the Red Cross is implementing various infrastructure improvement projects in Armenia and Azerbaijan border villages, during which an agreement is achieved regarding non-disruption of the safety of these works from the other side of the border. As said by Z. Amatuni, for instances, a pipeline construction is underway in Ijevan border village, Berkaber. The International Committee of the Red Cross is implementing various humanitarian projects in border villages, also seeking for additional opportunities for ensuring security at the border.
