“The demonstrations, burial ceremonies and funeral are not only the forms of expressing mourning, but also an expression of the attitude of Gyumri people towards the incident”, said the Chairman of “Shirak Center” NGO Vahan Tumasyan in the conversation with Aravot.am. He said that the incident caused changes in Gyumri people’s psychology, and even if the suspect Valerie Permyakov is transferred to Armenia, the Gyumri people’s attitude towards Russians will no more be what it was. “Gyumri people gave their estimate; revolutionary changes were made in mindset and behavior.
Gyumri people’s attitude towards Russians will no more be what it was, it will stay too long in the memories of Gyumri people.” Referring to Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s statement that the incident should not be politicized, Mr. Tumasyan noted that in such cases, there will always be people who will politicize the incident. “With his statement, Lavrov do also politicizes the process. Naturally, there will be attempts to politicize the process and it is very normal. If it were in another country, wouldn’t they politicize it? Now, Gyumri people do not think of politicizing the incident or not, they made analysis and expressed their attitude.”
