“The regime change has begun”

January 21,2016 12:33

About a year ago, on February 5 last year, at the “Shangrila” entertainment center hosted a conference invited by the initiative PAP party, which was attended by various caliber of opposition political figures, ANC did not attend. Both constructive and “free artistic” speeches were voiced. For example, the second president’s more aggressive supporters spoke about the government pampers and cow bras. The atmosphere was such that many people were convinced if not tomorrow then the day after tomorrow there will be held definitely a regime change and now, it is the moment when we must say as much as possible convincing “curses” to the authorities to appear in the ranks of those who are more actively fighting against the “regime” and to determine the country’s future fate. In the meantime, this opposition or as it was common to say at that time, “non-governmental” trio has repeatedly announced that the “final countdown of the government authority has begun.”

This is not the first nor, I believe, the last time of getting barefoot without seeing the water. Along with numerous negative consequences, taking the desired for reality, leads to (do not be surprised) the situation cut off the society. For example, the old building of the “Zvartnots” airport is demolished. (Let’s call things by their proper name: after demolishing the overpass, the tower will no longer be useful both artistically and functionally). But those who “curse” the parties and the authorities do not care about it with a very “convincing” explanation, “It’s a private issue while the problem is systemic. The buildings under the tenure of these authorities will be always demolished. Well, if tomorrow or the day after tomorrow, there will be a regime change, not a single building will be demolished.”

The problem is really systemic. Since the year of 2000, the businesses constructing in the place of demolished buildings and receiving revenues are either the officials themselves or their relatives or people who have some kind of shadow (also, “money”) agreements with the government officials. But it does not mean that we should not fight against the specific manifestations of the systemic problem until there is a regime change assuring that it will happen in the next few days, weeks or months.

The only party which was active in terms of raising public issues was the “Heritage” when its parliamentary faction included Larisa Alaverdyan, Anahit Bakhshyan, Stepan Safaryan and Armen Martirosyan. Of course, changing anything in a specific industry and solving a problem is hard, it requires a huge mental and spiritual efforts, as well as time. It is much easier to speak of the imminent change of regime and saying scourging word in the air.
