On January 20, messages were exchanged between Edward Nalbandian, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, and Boris Johnson, Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs of the United Kingdom, on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between Armenia and the UK.
In his message Edward Nalbandian emphasized that throughout the years cooperation between Armenia and the United Kingdom has significantly developed, marked by high level political dialogue, active inter-parliamentary contacts, positive dynamics of cooperation in the areas of economy and trade, expansion of exchanges in cultural and education fields, as well as efficient collaboration on the international arena.
In his message Boris Johnson mentioned that the United Kingdom values the quarter of a century relations between the two countries, during which the UK has provided practical assistance towards Armenia’s consolidation as a democratic, prosperous and stable country. He welcomed the reforms being undertaken in Armenia in the areas of democracy and governance and underlined the UK support to that process. He also emphasized that the United Kingdom remains committed to supporting the mediatory efforts of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs aimed at the peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
The Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Armenia and the United Kingdom expressed hope that through joint efforts the cooperation between the two countries will continue to further expand and deepen.
