Two experts from Lithuania and Slovenia will visit Armenia between 11 and 15 December to share the EU’s experience with the country’s authorities. The experts will present EU legislation regulating risk assessment and quality assurance in the area of market surveillance of non-food products.

The expert mission has been organised by the European Commission’s Technical Assistance and Information Exchange Instrument (TAIEX) in cooperation with Armenia’s Economic Development Ministry.

According to TAIEX, the transfer of knowledge will primarily take into account the legal requirements of the EU General Product Safety Directive (2001/95/EC), as well as other pieces of secondary legislation regarding requirements for market surveillance and the application of national technical rules to the cross-border marketing of products.

In summary, the mission will focus on showcasing existing European good practices on enforcement of technical legislation, methods of risk calculation and quality assurance, implementation of risk assessment, communication between quality assurance and inspection departments, among other issues.
