I still can not understand from which moment helping the Armenian army has become condemnable, defamatory and even shameful. Within the past few weeks, I have seen publications, the authors of which claim that helping the army with money, tires, washing machines or tuffs is wrong. And especially what is wrong here, is not exactly clear.
If it reveals that the Armenian army needs help, let me inform that all the armies of the world need help, including the countries whose military budget reaches tens of billions of dollars. There are many foundations and charitable organizations in these countries that are collecting money and goods for the army, and it is not considered as “begging” as far as I understand. On the contrary, volunteers who help the army are proud of their activities, and the army is grateful to them. I am not quite familiar with the secondary sites and social networks in these countries, but I do not think that the groups that condemn the activities of supporting the army do not go beyond the “marginal” circles.
Since 1991, Armenians living in Armenia and abroad, both wealthy and ordinary, have helped the army, should not they have done that? Tsarukyan builds a military unit in Artsakh, is it condemnable? During the April war, people were returning from abroad to protect their land: maybe they were wrong too? In the past two or three years, there has formed a group of people among us who deny everything and slander everything, who hardly comprises the majority in the society, but this group is extremely active and successfully shuts the peoples’ mouths who oppose their approaches and put them into their place. Thus, the level cynicism is rising in our society. These trends seem to me dangerous for a country in the current situation.
Recently I read a Facebook comment about a young Armenian: it is not enough that he studies in Cambridge he still wants to help the Armenian army. Indeed, two deadly sins at the same time, are too much.
