In an interview with “Aravot”, newly elected member of the “Yelq” Hovik Aghazaryan made remarkable statements about the oligarchs. Talking about vote buying, he first said that when the society is ill, everyone is infected with that illness:
“Now we all need to be recovered: a businessman should engage in business, not being afraid of tax abuses or customs difficulties, and we need to create an opportunity for future oligarchs to be born among our children. These oligarchs are not going to live for 100 years, are they? What if they die? Our country will be left an orphan”.
We were surprised with such a remark, thus, in response to our clarifying question whether our country will be an orphan without oligarchs, Hovik Aghazaryan tried to correct his words:
“Saying oligarch, I mean businessmen. I am against the oligarchy as such, the monopoly. I want to say businessmen should be born. Where is the guarantee that a child of today’s businessman will be a businessman, he may become a musician? Maybe one day someone born in an ordinary family becomes a businessman, we need to ensure those conditions, we do not live only for today, do we?”.
