‘We are eager to boost Armenian-Iranian ties’ – Nikol Pashinyan receives Iranian Ambassador

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan received Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Republic of Armenia Seyed Kazem Sadjadi.

The Prime Minister attached importance to the normal development of Armenian-Iranian relations and expressed confidence that bilateral cooperation might be bolstered through joint efforts.

“We will do our utmost to further develop our bilateral partnership. We are eager to boost Armenian-Iranian ties on the basis of mutual interest,” the Premier said.

In this context, the Iranian Ambassador highlighted the need to tap the great potential available in bilateral cooperation and went on to state that all the necessary preconditions exist for expanding and deepening economic exchanges. The Ambassador pointed out that the operations of Meghri FEZ and the enforcement of Iran-EAEU interim free trade arrangement might promote this process.

The parties discussed ways of expanding cooperation between Meghri and Aras free economic zones, deepening ties in the fields of energy, healthcare, road construction and agriculture. Highlighting the need for consistent steps to develop cooperation in the field of tourism, the interlocutors made a point of improving infrastructures and implementing regular flights between the two countries. Reference was also made to the Armenian-Iranian investments programs.
