Armen Sarkissian not preparing to sign controversial bill – Hraparak

October 05,2018 14:31

“Hraparak” newspaper writes: “According to several sources, President Armen Sarkissian is not preparing to sign the controversial bill. He has called it a “step back” and is preparing to make use of the 21-day legal limit, after which he will send the bill to the Constitutional Court of Armenia, where its constitutionality will be discussed within three months.

Information published on the president’s website confirms this. “The president has had phone conversations with Nikol Pashinyan and Ara Babloyan, where they discussed the situation at hand… he will discuss the drafted bill when he returns to Yerevan and initiates discussions with the government and with the National Assembly leadership. The president demanded that everyone be constrained and tolerant towards one another and is convinced that the situation at hand can and should be resolved through the constitution and through the law, and through discussions and meetings.”
