Hamparian outlines ANCA priorities: aid, engage, deter

November 17,2020 21:26

ANCA Executive Director Aram Hamparian reviews the three key ANCA priorities as the Armenian nation takes on the challenges from the Turkish and Azerbaijani attacks against Armenia/Artsakh:

1) Aid: The ANCA has called for $250 million in U.S. emergency assistance for Artsakh and Armenia to address the humanitarian crisis resulting from Turkey and Azerbaijan’s onslaught and the forced displacement of over 100,000 Armenian civilians.

2) Engage: The ANCA is calling on the U.S. government to immediately re-engage in the OSCE Minsk Group Karabakh negotiations, urging on the U.S., France and Russia to revisit the terms and timeline of the devastating ceasefire deal imposed by Turkey and Azerbaijan.

3) Deter: The ANCA is calling on the U.S. to deter further attacks by Turkey and Azerbaijan against Armenia and Artsakh.

Azerbaijan and Turkey are reportedly amassing troops on the Armenia and Artsakh borders – a dangerous situation given their previous disregard for ceasefire agreements.

Hamparian read an ANCA letter sent to Secretary of State Pompeo earlier today outlining these ANCA priorities, the text of which is available here: http://anca.org/assets/pdf/111620_Pompeo_EmergencyAid.pdf
