After the meeting of the President of the European Council, Charles Michel, the President of France, Emmanuel Macron, the Chancellor of Germany Scholz, the President of Azerbaijan, and Nikol Pashinyan, the latter met with the representatives of the Armenian community of Moldova in Manuc Bey Palace.

According to Pashinyan. “Uncertainty is the greatest in Armenia and among the public; our task is to turn that uncertainty into certainty as soon as possible to see our concreteness. The problem should be solved, but it should not be taken out of context; today, the world is uncertain. Leaders of more than 40 European countries gathered in Chisinau also because of that uncertainty. Uncertainty is what created this format.” Pashinyan said that whatever he says about the meeting is preliminary.

“Generally, I should consider the discussion useful and inform you what I discussed and the topics. First, we agreed in Prague that Armenia and Azerbaijan would mutually recognize each other’s territorial integrity based on the Alma- Ata Declaration. In Brussels, we went one step forward, we agreed that Azerbaijan recognizes the territorial integrity of 29 thousand 800 square kilometers of Armenia, and Armenia recognizes the territorial integrity of 86.6 thousand square kilometers of Azerbaijan. Our understanding was that the issue of the rights and security of the Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh should be discussed in the format of the Baku-Stepanakert dialogue, which should work or take place within the framework of the international mechanism or with international involvement.”

Regarding the meeting held in Moldova, there is a preliminary detail in his wording. “Why preliminary? Because we still need to check Azerbaijan’s reaction to that statement. At the meeting, the parties emphasized that they would not mind the 1975 maps being taken as a basis for further demarcation of Armenia and Azerbaijan. That means another step to reaffirm the territorial integrity of 29 thousand 800 square kilometers of Armenia and the territorial integrity of 86.6 thousand square kilometers of Azerbaijan.”
