Party List Logic: the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) Changes Its Principles

March 06,2012 15:28

During a conversation with www.aravot.am, Hakob Hakobyan, an RPA MP and the head of the Social Affairs Commission, responded to our question whether it was adherence to principles to include, according to some speculations, in the RPA list such persons, toward whom Serzh Sargsyan, the president of the Republic of Armenia and the leader of the RPA, had had obviously negative attitude at the time. For example, let us mention Artashes Geghamyan. Mr. Hakobyan responded, “It is certainly adherence to principles, since there are neither enemies, nor friends in politics, but there are political relations that advance through politicians.”

The National Assembly member compared the mentioned phenomenon with the following situation, “It is like to say that one has looked askance at another for some time, why do they say hello to each other now?” Making a slightly more serious response, the MP added, “The level of consciousness is higher, on the other hand, time changes consciousness.”

The establishment representatives have expressed ideas recently that time has changed also the RPA, which is not so naïve as before to respond to the ANC provocations. We asked H. Hakobyan to comment on this notion too. He responded, “Neither the RPA, nor the ANC is naïve. Everyone is Armenian and will be guided by his ambitions.”
