“Everyone Should Mind His Own Business,” the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) Deputy Leader Responds to Serj Tankian’s Letter

March 01,2013 09:48

“The Republican Party has never gone beyond the limits of its system of values. Everyone should mind his own business,” Galust Sahakyan, the deputy leader of the RPA, responded to the questions about the RPA raised in famous rock singer Serj Tankian’s letter during a conversation with www.aravot.am. In response to Tankian’s statement, “Maybe your party is out of control and the oligarchs are running out of caviar or something and they want to make sure that the flow of the good times doesn’t stop,” Mr. Sahakyan added: “It is very good that we have a very good Armenian abroad who wants to have his say, but I don’t want to make political assessments. I repeat everyone should mind his own business.” In response to Tankian’s doubts that Serzh Sargsyan was not sure deep in his heart that he was the president elected by the people, Mr. Sahakyan said: “I don’t want to say bad things. I acknowledge that he is revered, but I want to treat his political knowledge and logic mildly; that is why I don’t want to respond.” Talking about S. Tankian’s claims that those who stole elections from the people were considered domestic enemies and needed to be punished, the RPA deputy leader made an appeal: “Let them come and say that among the people and use their wisdom for the sake of the people. We highly appreciate Tankian’s contribution to the international culture, but one should come to Armenia, live here, see, and assess, then give advice.” He suggested that Tankian read the election program of the President of the Republic of Armenia and not ask how the president was going to pull the country out of economic, social, and political turmoil.
